Competition for Composition for students of composition Shubert General Information In the framework of the 6th International Competition „Franz Schubert and the Music of Modern Times“, the University of Music and Dramatic Arts Graz organizes an international Competition for Composition for students of composition (also for post-graduates). The prime aim of this competition is to create new works for piano trio. Subject to this competition is a piece for piano trio (piano, violin, and violoncello) with a maximum length of 10 minutes. The award-winning work will be on the programme of the third heat of the competition as a compulsory piece of music, i. e. all ensembles in the finale will play the award winner’s composition on February 22, 2006 in the Kammermusiksaal of the Graz Convention Centre. Moreover, this piece will be played at the final concert of all winners of the competition at the Graz Convention Centre (Großer Saal - Stefaniensaal). The international competition „Franz Schubert and the Music of Modern Times“ is a three-genre competition in which the disciplines "Duo for Voice and Piano (Lied)" and "String Quartet" are fixed while the third category varies in the three-year rhythm of the event. Subject to the competition taking place between February 15-24, 2006 will be the genre of "Trio for Piano, Violin and Violoncello". The competition shall be open to the public, encouraging candidates of all nations. To be submitted: A composition for piano trio (Trio for Piano, Violin and Violoncello) Length: max. 10 Minutes Last date for submission: Entries to be postmarked not later than June 1, 2005 Please address your entry to: Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz Reference: „Kompositionswettbewerb-Trio“ Leonhardstraße 15, A-8010 Graz, Austria The scores must be entered as five anonymous copies in a separate envelop with a code name of your choice on it. All scores are to be marked clearly with the same code name. Jury: The prize-winners will be picked by a jury appointed by the University of Music and Dramatic Arts Graz. Prize: ? 2.000,- The award-winning composition will be incorporated in the repertoire of the 3rd heat of category „Trio for Piano, Violin and Violoncello“ as compulsory piece of music. Like all others before, also this 6th International Competition „Franz Schubert and the Music of Modern Times“ will be recorded on the CD series „Klangdebüts“ released by the University of Music and Dramatic Arts. The CD of this competition will contain live recordings of the third heats and the final concert and, as a result, also the award-winning work. All compositions submitted will be named in all publications relevant to the competition (last brochure, documentation). |

Submitting works accepted for a first performance, performed in public or awarded or published in whatever way is not admissible. All documents submitted shall remain property of the University and will not be returned. The prize-winner agrees expressly that the scores shall be put at the disposal of the registered ensembles after the closing date for the above competition. Making copies shall be permitted expressly. By signing this form all participants shall accept the conditions of the competition (in case of dispute, the German text shall be applicable). This competition is held without the possibility of recourse to legal action. |
