	The 8th International Competition "PRO PIANO-ROMANIA" June 22 - 27, 2004 I. This competition is opened for young pianists and all students of any nationality, born after January 1st 1979. The competitors will be separated in the following sections: Section A (4 categories, 1 round) born during the year: 1st cat. - 1997(and after) 2nd cat. - 1996 3rd cat. - 1995 4th cat. - 1994 Section B (8 categories, 2 rounds) born during the year: 1st cat. - 1993 2nd cat - 1992 3rd cat. - 1991 4th cat. - 1990 5th cat. - 1989 6th cat. - 1988 7th cat. - 1987 8th cat - 1986 Section C (3 rounds) born after the 1st January 1979 Section D 4 hands (1 round) born between: 1st cat - 1996 - 1993 (max. 8') 2nd cat - 1992 - 1989 (max. 10') 3rd cat - 1988 - 1985 (max. 15') II. PROGRAMME: Section A - 1 round (max. 8') a) one etude b) one preclassic work c) one classic, romantic, modern or Romanian work - one of those at your choice . Section B - 2 rounds First round (eliminatory): a) one etude b) one preclassic work Second round: a) one classic work b) one romantic, modern, or Romanian work - one of those at your choice Time limits for the 2nd round: for the cat 1 to 4 - 12' and for the cat. 5 to 8 - 18' Section C - 3 rounds: First round (eliminatory): a) one etude by Chopin b) one etude by Liszt (Excluded op. 1) c) J. S. Bach - One Prelude and Fugue Second round - semi-final (eliminatory) - max. 30': a) one sonata of the classic period (Haydn, Mozart or Beethoven ) b) one composition chosen by the competitor: modern or Romanian Third round - final (max. 40') - one or more compositions chosen by competitor, different from the ones played in the first 2 rounds Section D - 4 hands on one instrument (1 round): Programme chosen by the competitors, within the following time limits: 1st cat - 8' 2nd cat. - 10' 3rd cat. - 15' III. The program mentioned in the Application form cannot be changed afterwards. Participants are free to choose the order of the works to be performed. If, in the 2nd or 3rdround the performance of an applicant exceeds the time limit, the jury may stop it. Each of the rounds is public. IV. The order of appearance is alphabetical, in the bounds of each age category. < It's possible to take part in 2 sections, but with diferent programs>. V. The candidates have to send till the 1st of May 2004 (mail date) to the "Pro-Piano" Foundation Secretariat, Prof. Stela Avesalon, Aleea Padurea Craiului No.1, Bloc H3, sc.1, ap.11, sector 3, 032719 Bucuresti, Romania, the following: * copy of birth certificate * the application form with the definitive program * one passport photo (4cm / 5cm) * accommodation request, if necessary (hotel or hostel) * Bank receipt certifying remittance of the following participation fee: 60 $ USD for cat. A; 65$ for cat. B; 75$ for cat. C and 35$ USD / person for cat. D, payable to Banca Comercial&#227; Rom&#226;n&#227;, Sucursala Sector 3, Bucure&#186;ti, Romania - account No. 2511.1-2244.2/USD "PRO-PIANO" Foundation , or better cheque (for "PRO PIANO" Foundation). Every candidate will receive the confirmation and participating official invitation 15 days after the registration deadline. In case of non-participation, the fee and the application documents will not be returned. VI. Transportation & accommodation fees will be fully covered by the participants. We can provide hotel reservation (further information is available by request). VII. Awards: The Great Prize 5 Prizes for each category Special Prizes Prizes on behalf of the sponsors Prizes for the best interpretation of a romanian composition The best performances will perform before the public. The prizes will be handed over only to the winners themselves, during a public ceremony. Participation diplomas will be awarded to all participants. The ones not admitted to the 2nd or 3rd round, will receive Finalist Diplomas (at their following). VIII. All competitors will have the possibility to practice on a piano.For any kind of broadcasting or recording the applicants cannot require any extra payment. IX. The Jury will consist of well-known Romanian and foreign personalities in the field of classical music.The Jury's decisions are final and cannot be challenged. X.
