Any composer who is not over 35 years of age on 1st May 2005 can participate in the contest. The competition is open to composers of all nationalities. Category A - solo works for flute, clarinet, violin, piano or duo for flute-piano, clarinet – piano, violin – piano. The duration must be less than 10 min. Category B – string orchestra works (6, 5, 4, 3, 1). The duration must be less than 15 min. The music must be completely unknown. It must not have been previously performed, published or disseminated. Conditions for entry Registration in the competition will be made based on: application form, a short CV, copy of the passport, a recent photo and copy of the bank confirmation for the payment of the registration fee of 45 Euro. The registration fee will be paid into the account no. 4220 10230 2003 Euro, for “Jeunesses Musicales - composition”, Swift Code CBITROBU, and should be sent free of charge to the payee. The entry-fee is not refundable. Six copies of the scores must be sent in a sealed envelope. Participation in the competition must be anonymous, so only on the scores’ envelope it will be written the title and a motto. The sealed envelope and the above required documents for registration must be enclosed in a second envelope and sent to the competition’s Secretariat : Jeunesses Musicales Romania, C.P. 13 – 63, Bucharest 13, Romania. Registration deadline is January 31st, 2005 postal stamp. Confirmation of the applicant’s registration in the competition will be made before February 20th , 2005. The work must be sent as a score done by hand or printed by means of a programme of musical notation. Incomplete scores will not be accepted. All the scores presented must be legible at first sight. A score that is badly photocopied can be refused. Prizes: Category A – 1500 Euro, cash and performance, Category B – 2000 Euro, cash and performance. The jury reserves the right to award two honorary mentions Prizes will be awarded by a Jury, whose members are well known composers. All the decisions of the jury are final and non-appealable. The jury’s decision will be announced on May 15th , 2005 – Prize-winners’Gala Concert. The participants will be notified by e-mail and on the Jeunesses Musicales Romania web page http://jmromania.ong.ro After the verdict has been made public, the award will be delivered according to terms that have been agreed upon with the winner. The intellectual property rights remain in the composer’s possession. International Music Competition Jeunesses Musicales Bucharest Since 1993 takes place the International Music Competition Jeunesses Musicales, member of the Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI) and nationally recognised by the Ministry of Education. It is scheduled annually in Bucharest between 9 and 15 of May. The disciplines are: - piano, clarinet, composition one year and - violin, flute, composition the next year This competition is addressed to youth and has 4 age categories: up to 10, 14, 18, 30 years old. The programme for every age category includes a contemporary work. Although age category A ( till 10 years old ) and age category B ( 10-14 years old) have 4 works at choice the competitors must prepare one composed after 1970. 175 candidates from 38 countries - Armenia, Austria, Bulgaria, Brazil, China, Croatia, Cuba, Cyprus, Czech. Rep., Denmark, Ecuador, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Latvia, Luxembourg, F.Y.R. Macedonia, Moldavia, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, U.K. and U.S.A - on the annually average, have taken part in this competition, which proves the appreciation it enjoys. The music competition gathered every year between the jury members well known personalities of international cultural and musical life .
