I believe what you said made a great deal of sense. However, what about this? what if you typed a catchier post title? I am not saying your information is not good., but what if you added a post title to possibly get folk's attention? I mean %BLOG_TITLE% is a little plain. You should look at Yahoo's home page and note how they create article titles to get people to open the links. You might add a related video or a related picture or two to get readers excited about everything've written. In my opinion, it would make your blog a little livelier.
